Leather traceability
In the tanning industry, the traceability of the hides is obtained only if, during the manufacturing stage, the batches (whether we are dealing with raw or semi-finished products) are managed homogeneously, i.e. batches are not mixed with other batches of hides.
Chemicals traceability
Many important fashion brands require the traceability of all the chemical products used for the leather that was purchased.
Basicallyfor every piece of finished leather that is sold, the tannery must be able to trace which chemicals were used to tanner and finish it. The tannery must also be able to identify the product and production batch number of the supplier.
Managing traceability with Xtannery
To get this result, the tannery has to identify the chemical products not only by-product but also by using the supplier’s batch number. This implies to manage the chemical products warehouse by batches.
When chemicals are used in a barrel or are blended for the finishing stage, it is necessary that, in addition to the product and quantity, the batch or batches used are noted and identified on the recipes.
This working method makes it possible to keep track of what is happing in the warehouse by product/batch.
At Xtannery, thanks to leather traceability – where chemical products and individual recipes are identified and linked to the leather used in the processing phase – it is possible, at any time, through either providing a sales document or by giving the code of a sold item, to trace back the processes that the product has undergone with the relative recipes used in which the chemical products and batch number are indicated.
